MARLENEWALLACE " There's two things I know for sure. She was sent here from heaven And she's daddy's little girl"
Hi, my name is Shio and I am proudly fifteen years young. I've been role playing for a freakin' five and a third years/months. and I would have to say I'm intermediate/literate FTW. I found this place through the bell jar.
Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return;

To become the dew that quenches the land;
fears;; Having seen much for such a tender age, Marlene's fears are rooted strongly within the events which had passed. From the bomb that shook up Midgar and the constant despair grasping Gaia, Marlene fears for the lives of her family and friends, being so young she does not truly understand the misfortune going on around her, something that causes great insecurity. War in its self has rooted deeply within her as she worries of losing those she cares for. Being alone, be it result of war or otherwise, ranks as her greatest of fears. goals;; Because of her past, and the childhood she has been missing, Marlene wants desperately to be with her adoptive father, Barret and though she does not know the means to achieve this, it is her goal to have a real family again. strengths;; Even among adversity, this little girl is not the type to give up without a fight, though considerably incapable compared to those of an older age, Marlene will do anything in her power to help those she cares for and doesn’t take lightly threats upon her family standings. She’s very much a little trooper, standing strong even when so much has fallen around her. weaknesses;; Of the most obvious being her age and thusly her frailty, Marlene isn’t quite as capable as her peers. With no weapons to speak of and little means of self defense she relies heavily upon those around her for protection and security. Also, for her inability in combat, her life is always at risk in these troubling days. likes;; Like many little girls, Marlene loves flowers, though hasn’t had the chance of seeing many for their a rarity in Midgar. Though shy, she deeply enjoys the company of others, and isn’t too grown up that she can’t enjoy the simplistic pleasures of a bright sky or time to play. She holds her relations above all things and cherishes them greatly. dislikes;; War, for the obvious reasons has become something deeply resented by this child, and with this has come her dislike of Shinra, perhaps influenced by her father and pseudo-mother’s defiance against the organization. Within good reason she is tentative toward others, and doesn’t truly enjoy meeting new people and could in fact, be considered very untrusting of those she doesn’t know. turn ons;; N/A turn offs;; N/A
personality;; By the age of six, Marlene Wallace has seen the world reach towards its end all to clearly. More importantly, it’s not just the world coming to an end: It’s her world. Despite this, she has retained much of her innocence and acts as most children do. She’s a very caring individual and seems to constantly worry and try to care for the people around her. If she sees a saddened face Marlene will try her best to cheer them up, even when hope seems lost. Most amazing is her ability to remain utterly positive and optimistic most of the time, even in the constant state of chaos she seems to live in.
There will always be some things she doesn’t understand, but even if she gets knocked down, she usually has someone there willing to pick her back up again, just like she’d do for them. This is because she believes that as long as you have each other and work together, anything is possible. If she ever detects that a friend of family member is in distress she is quick to call them on it and help in any way she can. Notably, Marlene seems to have a boundless will to help others, even when she does not know the means to aid them. She’s sharp to boot, so trying to keep secrets from her usually doesn’t work to well, as children had the tendency for knowledge they shouldn’t have.
Marlene stands firmly by her beliefs, a trait most likely gleaned from the likes of Barret and Tifa. If there is something she believes or has opinions on, she’s not afraid to speak her mind and enforce her ideas. Though she is mature for her age, Marlene is a child in heart and soul, pouring all the love she can possibly hold on her loved ones and always praying for their welfare. Even with her inner strength and willpower, she is still young and thusly gets scared, sad and uses a nightlight while hoping that her papa returns home okay. She’s a sweet little light that won’t go out without a fight. One may even consider her to be somewhat spunky. Always looking to the bright side, she has all the creativity and imagination that comes with being a child, and uses her over-active imagination to entertain herself when left with her own devices. An optimist, she’ll never let herself imagine the worst, and dreams of the days that everyone will be together again.
fire surging through;
hair & eyes;; Her chocolate brown hair, having grown with her age now reaches half way down her back when let down. Her eyes are a dark umber brown, shining with childish wonder. height & weight;; approximately three feet eight inches give or take an inch. distinguishable features;; Notably would be her hair style, sporting a pink ribbon which ties her braid at the center of her head, perhaps in homage to a role model which seems to have made a great impact upon the girl. play by;; herself {AC CGI movie}
appearance;; Simplistic to say the least, Marlene’s wardrobe does not have many luxuries. Her small form is often over looked in crowds, which can be a blessing and a curse. She keeps her hair tied neatly into a ponytail with a pink ribbon. The hair is then braided down to the tip and secured with pink elastic. Gentle fringed bangs fall just over her eyes though the length has been layered from long on the sides of her face, to the trim just over her eyes. Wisps of hair too short to be placed elsewhere curl slightly just before her ears.
Her clothes are fairly plain, wearing an easy going white turtleneck shirt without its sleeves, a light fringe at the bottom is tied around the front center. A flower and lace patterned skirt reaches around below her knees leaving some skin showing before flower laced pinkish socks cover her feet. Over these are heavily worn tennis shoes that could be supposed white before the long days of wear put upon them now, their color now is something of a faded gray, though the tip of her shoe manages to keep it’s white color, as do the soles. Laces are strung up neatly, while the tie which secures them is slightly askew as Marlene likes doing things herself, even getting dressed.
To spare the sands, the seas, the skies;
parents;; Eleanor and Dyne (both supposed dead) Barret Wallace (Adoptive father) Tifa Lockehart (Pseudo-mother) siblings;; none occupation;; none to speak of being a child after all.
history;; There was once a small mining town called Corel. It was cozy town where everyone knew everybody else and went about their business. It is in such a secluded little world that a baby girl was born to Dyne and Eleanor. The baby's father couldn't have been more proud, and his admiration for the little girl was shared in earnest by his close friend Barret and his own wife Mina.
Then Shinra came. Mako became the leading energy source, and coal exports slowed. Suddenly the way of life Corel's people had known for years was gone. The coal business was all they knew -- all they expected to know -- so what were they supposed to do now? Fortunately, the corporation came prepared with a back-up plan: build a reactor on the outskirts of town. The townsfolk would have jobs to support their families, and steady business would once again return to Corel. Without any other alternatives, the town agreed, all but Dyne who was wary of Shinra's intentions. After some coaxing from Barret, he grudgingly agreed. He had a wife and child to think about, after all. With all in favor, construction began and profits were made, just as Shinra had promised. However, production was cut short when an explosion rocked the mako reactor. It wasn't a fault of its own, Shinra insisted. The only reasonable explanation was that it was a deliberate attack on the organization, and the culprits were anonymous terrorists hiding out in the small mining town. Such a horrible crime warranted even harsher punishment, and the corporation soon flew in its troops.
Barret and Dyne were out on the surrounding mountains when they received word of an attack by Shinra troops. Before the two could make it back to protect their homes, they encountered a group of soldiers who immediately opened fire. The two were separated when a spray of bullets caught both men in the arms and caused Dyne to tumble from the bluff. Despite his injury, Barret pushed onward to Corel where he was greeted by the remnants of an all-out massacre. Men, women -- Eleanor and Mina included-- and children were slain in the name of justice during Shinra's raid for the alleged terrorists, and the town itself had been reduced to rubble. By some miracle, the infant daughter or Dyne and Eleanor had survived the slaughter, and Barret vowed to raise the little girl as if she were his own, leaving for Midgar with the baby and a heavy heart.
Barret and Dyne do not meet for four years. In a way, it was hardly a surprise to find Dyne alive -- Barret had suspected his survival after hearing stories of another man receiving a gun-arm when his procedure was done -- however, Barret is shocked to find his friend had changed for the worse. Unlike Barret who still has the little girl to live for, Dyne lost everything. In a desperate attempt to get through the violence to the old friend he knew, Barret brings up the one thing that seems to hold them together: the baby girl they both love so much.
Barret: Dyne, Marlene...... Marlene's still alive. Dyne: ......? Barret: I went back into town. I thought she was gone for sure. That is why I wanted to be by her side till the end. That's when I found her...found Marlene. Dyne: ... Barret: She's in Midgar. Let's go see her together, all right? Dyne: So...... she's still alive... All right, Barret. I guess that means you and I gotta fight. Barret: what!? Dyne: Eleanor's alone all by herself. I've got to take Marlene to her. Barret: Dyne... are you insane!? Dyne: Marlene wants to see her Mom, don't she?
After a short battle, Dyne is subdued, thoughts returning to his daughter as if he were just now processing the horrible words he had spat only moments before. He had wanted to kill his own daughter for the sake of a memory.
Dyne: I told you... I ... I want to destroy everything... Everything... This crazy world... Even me... Barret: An' what 'bout Marlene? What's gonna happen to her!? Dyne: ...Think about it... Barret... How old was Marlene back then...? Even if I did go to her now... she wouldn't even know me... And what's more... Barret... These hands are a little too stained to carry Marlene anymore... Barret: ...... Dyne: Barret... Give that pendant to Marlene... It was... Eleanor's...my wife's memento... Barret: All right... Dyne: ...wow... Marlene's... already...... 4...... Barret... Don't...... make...... Don't ever make Marlene...... cry...
And with that, he jumps to his death.
At four, Marlene knows nothing of this, and, given what we know from Advent Children, she knows just as much about her birth parents at six. Someone so young does not understand the nature of a father's relationship with his daughter beyond the fact that he loves her, so Marlene has no reason to question Papa as her father. In fact, with her original home and family buried, the pendant entrusted in Barret is the only tangible evidence the girl has of that past life ever existing in the first place.
With her mother and father gone, and their hometown destroyed, Barret took it upon himself to raise the small girl as his own. Eventually, Barret and Marlene moved to Midgar, Sector 7, where Barret became busy, spending time with a terrorist group calling themselves AVALANCHE, keen on destroying the Mako Reactors that were destroying their planet. This put Marlene in the center of the struggle, having the corporation ShinRa destroy her hometown, and her adoptive father work to destroy them.
Meanwhile Marlene spent time with Tifa, a friend of Barret's, at the Seventh Heaven bar. Unaware of her tragic past, and despite the deplorable living conditions they suffered in the slums, Marlene grew up rather content. As long as she had her friends and family, she felt there was nothing to worry about. Most of her time was spent helping Tifa run and maintain the bar, while Barret made a lot of trips away. She was confident that he would always come back, and he always did.
However, once again her home would be torn apart. It was an attack that could not have been expected, though fortune was upon Marlene’s side as she was not within Sector 7 at the time of upheaval, instead she was at her papa’s side while he attended to some business. When the explosion hit, repercussions sent Sector Five into an uproar of fear and confusion, consequently Marlene was lost in the chaos. Tossed about the masses and running for her life as only she knew how. By grace Marlene was spared from the devastation and managed to find safety, being relocated to the refugee camps, without her father and having no idea as to whether anyone she knew had survived.
I offer thee this silent sacrifice;
sample post;; (A post from a .hack roleplay I’m involved in) His smile made hers brighten. Theirs was a partnership of mutual agreement. For one that found friendship far and few between, she had gained a friend here in only a few minutes at best. In such a short time already she felt as though she could follow him from the ends of [The World] and back again with total trust in her new companion. She felt a fullness of spirit that she'd never had before. There was a bolt of life within her that she hadn't experienced before.
Her smile increased as she heard him express his joy on their agreement. In a survival game show, this sort of thing would be called an alliance, sometimes out of sheer instinct, and other times from a true bond, it was the same in [The World]. Joining a party meant that you would fight alongside them, supporting each other, caring for each other. In all honesty Suzuha felt that this was right, it just seemed to fit. Never had she felt to sure of something as trivial as a companion in another world, a game even.
At his confidence she chuckled lightly, it wasn't often that such a sound came from the Cleric. Reverence took over and her hands fell behind her back and smiled simply toward the Templar. "When interest is only put upon becoming stronger, gaining levels....one does not meet many friends, it is no surprise to find someone to accompany on a quest or gain information from. Kindred spirits however, are a rare, special thing." She leaned closer toward Novalis, her eyes examining him and her face showing it. With a smile she withdrew and said in a calm assured voice "Yes..... I think your just the kind of kindred spirit I've been looking for..."
